Album Artwork

Here below is my created Album cover for my artist which is featured in my music magazine "King Tyrone." I have used Adobe Photoshop to create this Album Artwork.

As you can see I have used Adobe Photoshop to create this album artwork, I have mainly used the satin effect on my text which is giving my text a visual look of Steal. This is to connote power to the reader and to attract them too.

I have highlighted certain words in red as it is singling these words out to the audience and the reader which attract them to this album artwork.

Lastly I have placed a Advisory image bottom left to make my Album cover look more professional.

Finished Magazine Double Page Spread

Here below is my finished magazine double paged spread
here is my finished double page spread, I have discussed the reasons why I have used certain fonts, colour schemes and pictures. However in conclusion I feel that I have done enough to attract my target audience. And obtain the purpose of this double page spread.

Magazine Double Page Spread Production Process

Below is the production process of my double page spread

Here I have started using a black background with the text colour consisting of white and gold, I have used these colours as the black and white text connote exclusivity and the black connotes a strong hard look. My main image which I have used is a rendered image which consists of "King Tyrone" which my double page spread is about. The facial expression and the mise en scene in this picture connotes a strong look of a rapper of what he is wearing which consists of a cardigan and a cap. Also this symbolises as change as further down my production I will be inserting a secondary image which will contrast with this main image.

As I have progressed through my production I have now inserted my main article, I have placed this in the middle of my double page spread to make this my main focal point. The colour schemes I have used is again the gold and white. I have used this to my advantage as this will show the readers which is the question and what is the answer. I have also added a secondary headline which is placed at the side of the main image which consists of the text "KING TYRONE UNREVEALED" this is to tell the reader who the magazine double page spread is about. I have used a quotation from my artist as my main headline, I have used this font as it looks gritty and strong. The colour scheme I have used is the white and gold, as I have used the gold to highlight the key words of the quotation. This is all in order to attract and give impact on the reader. Lastly I have used two box at the top just to symbolise the page number.

I have now inserted text box which consists of a introduction of the main article with a drop capital. This drop capital gives the reader the impression that the double page spread has started. I have a another piece of text which again gives the reader a glimpse of what the magazine is about. I have used a caption below which I will be using later on through the production which will tell the reader what my secondary image is about shorty.

I am now in the final stages of my finished magazine double page spread. I have now inserted a rendered image of my artist. And he is perceived as a young boy back in his childhood where he was a thug and a criminal. This is why I have used bold text above to symbolise this as he has changed. And was able to change he life and become successful.

Here is my final double page spread, as you can see I have moved a few things around, I have did this because I realised my main column was too central which would mean a split in the text in which the reader would struggle reading my article. I have amended this by positioning the text further right which splits the two pages equally. I have moved other features around during the cause of the production process as I wanted to test the placing of each feature and thought this placement was best to catch the readers eye. As this divides the page from this childhood days and his rap star career. Which is essential as the reader will be engaging into this scenario.
In conclusion all the aspects of my double page spread I have used, I think I have used successfully as I have tried to portray my spread as old school and professional. I think I have successfully portrayed this image with the colours, fonts and pictures I have used.

Finished Magazine Contents Page

Here below is my finished magazine contents page

Here is my finished contents pages, Through my prodcution process I have discussed the reasons for using certain, texts, fonts and colour schemes. In conclusion I feel my contents fits the style which I have intended.

Magazine Contents Page Production Process

Below is my process of production for my finished magazine double page spread.

As you can see i have started to put together my contents page, I have used my main actor (Roshan) as the main image for my contents as thats what my double page sprea is about. I have used a grey and white style to connote a old school, or newspaper like style as my double page spread is about my actors childhood. I main text font is impact to stand out to the reader. In addition I will be using other secondary images as article for my contents page. However I have used a glow which is in the bottom right hand corner to smarten my page up, I am still undeceided where to place it at the moment.

Now my contents page is shaping up, as I have included lines seperating pictures and article so the reader does not get confused. I hae added small text boxes onthe corner of each picture to tell the reader were they can find this informaton.

I have now started to progress through adding new headlines and article for readers to see, I have included at the bottom left of this page which artist are included in this magazine. With the page numbers highlighted below. As you can see I have now moved my glow to the top right hand corner were I feel this makes impact on this page and makes the page looks smart and neater and less plain.

Here is my final contents page, as you can see I have now filled my contents page, including whereto find free poster and "Real Talk" with the main man. I have used certain colour schemes like purple and yellow to tie in with my magazine front cover and double page spread, overall I am happy with my contents page.

Finished Magazine Front Cover

Below is my finished magazine cover which I have been working on for some time.

Magazine Front Cover Production Process

Here I am going to be posting the production process of my Magazine front cover, I will be posting pictures of how my construction came along.

Here is the start of my magazine, as you can see I have only added my black background and created my masthead which is at the top of my page. My masthead is bold and ironic to capture the readers eye.

I have now inserted my main image to the magazine, I have made adjustments to this image such as rendering this image. I will be explaining this on another post. I think this main image is good as it sets the tone of my magazine.
As you can see I have added a purple outer glow to my text, this is to ensure my text is visible and stands out to the reader. Also I have used purple as this is part of mycolour scheme. In addition the purple I have used connotes power and royalty. These two combined add to my magazine style. I have added my headline and volume edition too. My headline is bold to stand out and the colours I have used are to signify my house style. "Volume 1" is in a graffiti like text as my magazine genre is rap, and graffiti is normally linked with this type of music.
I have now added anchorage text to my magazine to make my magazine look more professional. However my anchorage text consists of the term "Real Talk" which is displayed in a different font. "Real Talk" is basically the magazines very own independent Q&A with celebrity rappers. In addition I have added a banner across the top of my page which displayed artist which are in this page. I have used my colour efficiently as they go with my house style, and my buzz word which is "Exclusive" is in red to symbolise its importance.

Final
Here is my finished magazine front cover, I have added a barcode and a QI code to make my magazine cover look professional. Overall I think my magazine complies with my genre perfectly with the colours schemes and my main image used.

Magazine Mock Fonts

Below are my Mock Fonts I was considering using for my magazine front cover Masthead, I have thought carefully about my final choice and will explain below.

Here are my magazine text fonts I was considering using, I have used Adobe Photoshop to modify the text as I have added outer glows to each text consisting of different colours. I have added these glows to give the magazine impact and draw the reader in.

The font I have eventually used is the top font on the page. I have used this font as it is bold and dynamic to my magazine. The purple glow represents royalty but also the rap genre of my magazine too as the purple connotes a strong content about my magazine to the readers, and captures the readers eye.

Magazine Mock Shots

Below are my mock shots which I have taken in order to create my music magazine, I have only used four of my pictures which I have taken.
Picture 1
This is the first picture I have taken, I have used this as my main image as the facial expression given is a serious look, as i want my main image to look serious in order for my magazine cover to look intimidating to the readers. The mise en scene used within this picture is exceptional as my actor is wearing all black which connotes his youth, and a pull over hat which connotes his personal image. And a black hooded top which is stereotypically related to young youths.

Picture 2

My second picture used is of the same actor, but the mise en scene used is different as my actor is wearing a black balaclava, also my actors facial expression is directly looking into the camera as he is the main focus point. As a whole my main image connotes fear and connotes what a youth who is a gang member would look like. As my magazine cover is about my rapper who has grew up in gangs I think it is appropriate to use this image. I have used this picture on my double page spread.

Picture 3

My third image I am using for my double page spread, This image is appropriate as my double page spread is about this artist getting out of the hoods and streets and how he is a changed man. The mise en scene used within this pictures connotes he is a changed person as he is wearing casual clothes and not dark thug like clothing.

Un Used Pictures
Below are the rest of my mock shots which I haven't used in my Magazine
I have not used these images as simply they do not fit the purpose of my magazine. Some of the pictures used have bad lighting and other have bad facial expressions.
Contents
However these pictures below are featured on my contents page, although the images are the same I have modified them too, you can find my modifications on my photoshop practises post. In addition I have used these two images on my contents as I was creating an old school look as most grime raps are stereotypically dressed in black and white so i wanted to create that mise en scene among my contents page for the reader.

Photoshop Practices

Below are two of my photo shop practises,I have done this so I can get used to the software Adobe Photoshop, so when I am carrying out the tasks of creating my magazine I will be familar with the software and its features.

Before
After

As you can see I have used Adobe Photoshop to edit this image, as I have selected the gradient map, I chose what colours I wanted to blend with this image in this case I chose black, red and a hint of yellow.

Secondly I have used one of my very own images to edit.

Before
After

As you can see my image as changed from the original, I have rendered out a selected part of my image using the magic wand tool, I simply deleted the background image, which allowed me to place the beach image as the background image. Also I used one of the effects provided by Adobe Photoshop to add a red outer glow to my image too. To do this I selected my image and clicked effects, inner glow, I then selected the colour and size of my glow.

Prop/Costume/Actor List

In this post I will be post a list what I need for my Magazine photos:
Props
-One iPod Head Phone

Costume
- Black Hat
- Black Hooded Jacket
-Black Gilet
- Black Vest

I am using all black as my magazine genre is rap, in addition I want my main image to be strong and gritty in order to attract a young audience.

Actor
- Roshan Barber (Main Artist)

I have used this actor, as in my opinion is the perfect person to model for my magazine, as his facial expression are picture. In my actors spare time he has taken up rapping so this gave me more incentive to choose hime too.

Risk Assessment

Below are two pictures of the risk assessment form I filled out in order to maximise my models safety for the photoshoot.

Venue Release Forms

Below is a picture of my completed venue release form, I have filled this form in, as I am taking the correct procedures for my photo shoot.

Questionnaire Results

Below I will be posting my results for my questionnaire I created recently

Results 1
As you can see from my first set of results that most of my respondents are male as 73% percent of my respondents were male and 27% was female. However the most common age between my respondents was between 15-20 years old as this was the most on 82%. I can use my first set of results to my advantage because I now know I should base my music magazine for male readers, and try to a attract readers between the age of 15-20.

Results 2

The first question I asked was "Do you buy music magazines." The results from my respondents show that 64% of people do not buy music compared to the 36% that do. This tells me that I need to make my music magazine stand out so these people may change their mind, I could possibly include free gifts to attract the reader. My second question I asked "What music magazines do you buy?" The results of this questions show that NME and Q are joint top with 75%. I will act on this feedback through researching what NME and Q are including in their magazine so I can integrate this to mine so I attract these readers.

Results 3
My third set of results show the responses from the next three questions I asked. The first questions was "Do you receive any free gifts with purchase?" the main result I got back was Cd's. I will act upon and may include free gifts with my magazine which will be an exclusive CD to the reader. My second question asked was "How much do you spends on a music magazine?" The top result i got back was £4.01-£6. This shows me that readers like to spend allot on magazines however I will price mine a reasonable price such as £2.50. The last question I asked was "What genre of music magazine do you buy?" My results are odd as I have included most mainstream genres but the respondents have told me that they buy other, and have stated they buy House Music Magazines, with the majority decision of 73%. However this result will now impact my decision on choosing which genre to base my music magazine on as most readers prefer house music than the mainstream genres.

Results 4
My fourth set of results show the responses from my next questions. My first question was "Why don't you buy music magazines?" The responses I got back show that most 55% of people do not buy music magazines due to the factor of price. I am again using this to my advantage as I will price my magazine reasonably to attract all reader. My second questions was "Do you interactively read music magazines?" My results show that 45% of reader do not as they chose other and consisted of the answer no. My last question was "Would a subscription magazine be better for you?" My results have shown that 55% of readers would prefer a subscription magazine compared to the 45%. I have to be careful as there is only 10% between the two answers. But I will take this into consideration when creating my magazine and decide whether to go with a subscription magazine or not.

Results 5
My final set of results show responses from the last 2 questions. My first question was "What genre of music do you listen to?" My respondents show that 55% of people listen to Alternative music, and another 55% have chosen other which consists of house music. I should now consider my music magazine to be based on the genre of either house or alternative as that it the most listened to via the respondents. My next question results consist of "Would you be interested in a free gift with a music magazine?" My respondents have made it clear they would with a massive 82% saying yes. I will now include a free gift with my music magazine preferably a CD as my results how shown that my respondents would like that.

I would like to state that these questionnaire results are not in order. I hope this has not caused any confusion.

Mood Board

Below is my mood board which is representing my genre which is rap, I have used key images relating to rap such as my favourite rappers and items associated to rappers such as money, clothing etc.

Production Schedule

Below will show you my production schedule for my entire AS Media Coursework, this time table is to ensure efficiency while doing my work and also to show you how I managed my time while completing this course.

College Magazine Contents Mock Up

I will be posting my college magazine contents mock up below.

College Magazine Front Cover

I will be posting my finished college magazine, I have created this as a mock up to my final music magazine production.
Here is my final college magazine. Now that I have created this I will now start to create my proper music magazine taking on board improvements which needs to be made.

My overall production of my college magazine is that I have used photoshop to add a rainbow effect on the main image to suggest to the reader that cardinal heenan sixth form is a friendly and exotic place. Again I have used an image of a skyline at the top of the page as a sky to suggest to the reader the location of cardinal heenan sixth is sunny and vibrant.

All my text used are bold and different colours as my text house style is black, white, yellow, and red the denotation of this is that is cardinal heenans main house style.

College Magazine Mock Up

In this post I will be uploading my plan for my college magazine, Below my plan I will be discussing what I will be doing and why.

Here is my college magazine plan, as you can see I have my main image covering the page. The main image will consist of a picture of the school, also I will use Adobe Photoshop to modify the picture too. I am using a picture of the school as my magazine is about cardinal heenan sixth form.

My masthead is at the top of the page to catch the readers eye, also so it is noticeable I will change the font of the text to have impact on the reader. Below the masthead is the issue number just stating to the reader what issue the magazine is.

My Secondary image will consist of a pupil from cardinal heenan sixth form this is to connote to the reader that cardinal heenan is a friendly environment. This is to draw the reader in to read about the school.

My headline will be white and bold and a reasonable sized font to suggest to the reader what the magazine is about.

Analysis Of Two Double Page Spreads

In this post I will be analysing two double page spreads discussing the good and bad features about them.

Magazine 1
In conclusion I thought this was a good double page spread with the techniques used to draw the reader in such as the font and colour change even the main image used too. This double page spread was clean and simple but effective too with the colour scheme used, I think this double page spread has pulled of the simplistic look.

Magazine 2

In conclusion I think this double page spread is well deigned and well written as the register is in parts formal but mostly informal to make the reader feel comfortable in reading it. The colour scheme used which is black and gold is to signify power and wealth which is good. And overall A well designed and planed out double page spread which is neat tidy and attracts the reader in a unique way.
