Carmel College Magazine Analysis

In this post I will begin to analyse this college Magazine cover

Firstly I think the target audience for this magazine is young students, preferably females because of the main image, the main image shows a young female receiving her exam results. However the secondary images shows student related images including sports round up, and new information about Carmel
college.

Although the headline format is bold and pink, it connotes young girls because pink is normally associated with girls, Also the anchorage text is explaining what the main image is showing which is good exam results.

The layout engages the target audience through the simple layout of the magazine and the format used, the layout is simple and student friendly it is not overloaded with information, and it is quick and simple to understand. Also I think it is trying to engage the target audience by giving the impression that the college is a student friendly environment.

The ideology of the college from looking at the font is to try and encourage more young females to attend the college. I think they consider education important though their results, and are trying to get this message across through their main image and their headline font and anchorage text font. And the secondary images too.

The Mise En Scene shows several issues including the lighting as the main image lighting is darkened and the girl at the centre is shown in more colour, this connotes that the central image is the main focus point, she is wearing colourful clothing, however the people in the foreground are wearing dull colours. The image is a medium shot, showing people in the foreground as this is explaining what is happening in the main image and lets the audiences focus on the main image.

The facial expression of the young girl in the image is De-notating she is happy and overwhelmed with her results and with the prop used which is her exam results. This symbolises one of the main reason of the magazines which is promoting the success of the college and the results. In my opinion this will successfully engage the reader because it is plain simple and has impact on the reader the headline and the anchorage text tell the reader what the magazine is about.

The font cover reflects the contents successfully because, the magazine is trying to attract more females students which is connoted though the font and the anchorage text which is trying to encourage those students to attend Carmel college.

Genre

The Music Magazine genre I will be creating for my magazine is rap, Below is four rap magazine front covers which I want to base my final magazine design around. I have chosen some of these front covers as i want my magazine to be fierce, strong, eye catching and ironic. These magazine front covers below share the same ideology as I do.

All of the above magazine front covers contribute to what I am aspiring and basing my finals magazine front cover on. I want my magazine front cover to send a message to the readers like no other magazine has done before, straight from the first glance.
